There has been a lot of focus on the shifting of the Lunar Nodes on social media. In this post, I will write how they affect our natal charts, and how the current shift will affect us.
What are the Lunar Nodes?
Imagine the moon is like a spinning top. Sometimes it spins straight up and down, and sometimes it wobbles. This wobbling makes it cross paths with the Earth's path around the sun in two special places: the North Node and the South Node. These crossings are where eclipses take place. This is also where the shifts take place.
In your natal chart, the North Node points to your fate and the growth you’re meant to embrace, while the South Node highlights patterns, habits, and traits you’ve brought with you from your past life.
What are the meanings of the North and South Nodes?
Your South Node represents the lessons, wisdom, and baggage you were born with. Many astrologers believe that your South Node reflects your past life: Who you were, what you learned, and where your soul left off. The South Node exposes themes that are familiar, accessible, and easily achievable. In many ways, the South Node signifies our comfort zone.
Your North Node symbolizes where you should be heading towards this lifetime. It reveals the energy you need to harness to fulfill your soul’s mission. The North Node offers insight into the passions, talents, and growth you need to access to reach your fullest potential.
Where are the North and South Nodes right now?
On January 11, 2025, the Nodes shifted onto the Pisces-Virgo axis (with the North Node in Pisces and the South Node in Virgo). Energies will then center on themes of spirituality, healing, and surrendering control versus the practicalities of work, health, and daily routines. What events were unfolding between 2015 through 2017, in your life? These themes showed up in your life previously while the Nodes were in opposite signs back then (North Node in Virgo and South Node in Pisces). You may see how themes of idealism, spirituality, and service evolved into more grounded, tangible actions and routines — and how they may do so again in this upcoming cycle.
